| I really enjoy this
fantasy series and I look forward to the second
half of the series coming out over the next
eighteen months or so. I highly, highly
recommend it for those who want to try more
fantasy but are a bit leery of the genre. I
think it's a good one to dip your toes into.
I also recommend it to more established fans of
the genre because the world-building, characters
and potting are excellent. more... |

| ...readers are taken on a
twisting plot full of political machinations, the
crushing weight of history, a surprising wit (Hadrien's
remarks while hanging in the castle dungeon's actually
elicited a genuine laugh out loud moment), and plenty of
action. It is an extraordinarily tale told with a mature
voice that would be impressive from a veteran and is
even more so from a new author. more... |

| It's definitely a
plot-driven work. Royce and Hadrian take what they think
will be an easy job--steal a special sword on the eve of
a duel--for high pay. Instead, they're framed for the
king's murder. I would go on and give more details of
the plot, but anything I write might give away some of
the fun plot twists. I never knew what would happen
next, which was awesome. more... |

| The Ryria Revelations
series shows why it's good to try small press novels too
since from the almost standalone first novel The Crown
Conspiracy (FBC Rv) to the superb Avempartha (FBC Rv)
that starts dealing with the big picture in a major way,
to the very good, though somewhat less satisfying
because of being essentially a transition novel, Nyphron
Rising (FBC Rv tbp), the series has established itself
as a page turning pure fun adventure tale and the 2010
offerings #4 above and #5 below are highly awaited
novels. |

Michael J. Sullivan is not
a surprise for me anymore, but an author that already
established his place within the fantasy genre. "Nyphron
Rising", like Sullivan's previous novels, offers an
adventurous tale and a captivating story, returning to
the roots and values of the classical fantasy. more... |

I enjoyed the
characters in this book, particularly Hadrian,
Royce & the sweetest monk ever. I suspect
those are three we will learn many more secrets
about as the series continues, and I am eager to
know more about them. They seem
fascinating, but also a lot of fun--Hadrian
particularly. What's refreshing about this
book is that none of the characters really has
the fantasy character prototypes working--They
aren't excessively arrogant or brooding over
their pasts. They don't go around
committing vile acts or double-crossing
everyone. They're refreshing. more... |

I think Moore has
produced an excellent debut novel here.
The story is well imagined and well crafted, her
imagery and style making for an easy pleasurable
read...So to summarize, I think Griffin's
Daughter is a welcome and excellent
addition to the fantasy genre. Moore has
certainly done enough to recommend this as well
as to leave the reader wanting to continue with
the series in Griffin's Shadow and
Griffin's Destiny. more... |

I am glad to say that Michael
Sullivan didn't disappoint and does indeed give a stronger
showing with Avempartha. Don't understand me wrong -- The
Crown Conspiracy was a great book and a very strong and
assured debut, but the lessons Michael learned in writing The
Crown Conspiracy have made Avempartha a stronger
book. more... |

there is much more going on in the underlining of the book
than I realized while reading. My mind just raveled at the
many possiblities and questions. There are many stories left
to be told here and I will be waiting to get to them.
